Questions about the other chapters - Guild Wars Forums

In the guide that helps players choose what chapter is best for them it does not mention "Eye of the North" chapter, why is that, what is that chapter about.
Also can me and my brother on different PC's play using the same CD.

And if me and my brother play online can we do those quest were you have henchmen together. Like can I fight along side with him and still have some henchmen. Sorry I don't even have the game so I'm a big noob, but I'm looking for a really awesome MMO that you don't have to pay for every month. Thnx in advance!

Eye ofthe North is an expansion, not a stand-alone chapter. So it wouldn't do a new player any good to go out and buy it without having one of the others. That's why it's not talked about in the sticky.

If you and your brother get the same chapter(s) you can play together in a party and fill out the party with henchmen and whatever heroes you have gotten on the character you're playing. You can have as many henchmen as the party size allows, but you're limited to 3 heroes (per person)

If you're thinking about which game to get, one option is to get the trilogy pack (Prophecies, factions, and Nightfall) for $50 at the NCsoft on-line store.

The software can be installed on as many computers as you like. You don't even need the CD, since you can even download the software from the NCSoft Web site. When you buy the game, what you're really paying for is not the software but the key code needed to create an account for the game. Once you've activated that key code, you can go to any computer you like, install the software, and log on to Guild Wars. However, only one computer can be logged on to the account at one time.

I suspect what you really want to know is if both you and your brother can play using one copy of the key. The answer to that is no. You will each need to have your own account in order to play at the same time, so you would need to buy two copies of the game so that you each have a key. If you share the account (which is against the rules), then only one of you can log on at a time.

First off, Welcome to Guild Wars and Guild Wars Guru!

1) EOTN is the only expansion, the other 3 are stand-alone games that your characters can go between freely once you have completed some requirements (quests). You can create a character in any of those 3 games. (Proficies is the easiest for newcomers I'd highly suggest starting there). Also, eotn is only open once your character is lvl 10 or above. It is designed for lvl 20s.

2) You don't need the disk for anything but reducing the amount of things to download. You effectively buy the account code. You'll need another account code for another account. With EOTN or any new addition you will add that code to your account.

3) You can have any combination of Heroes, Henchmen and, Players that you want. You should usually have a full party. Humans/Players are preferable, Heroes (from eotn or nightfall but useable anywhere) are custom henchmen that you make (after unlocking them through quests), you can have 3 per player in a group. Henchmen are for filling any remaining slots, usually healer or more damage.

Don't forget to add me (Obrien Xp) to your friends list as I enjoy helping new players (It feels rewarding to pass on what you learned).

Wow, thnx so much for all the help guys. I guess I will buy two copies for me and my brother. I also just noticed that Guild Wars 2 was coming out should I just wait for that to come out, instead of getting Prophecies. In addition should I buy 2 copies of the whole trilogy or just two copies of Prophecies cause its kind of expensive to buy two copies of the trilogy. Another thing, is the Eye of the North worth it. In other words would you guys recommend it. Thnx for all the help I really appreciate it!

Welcome to Guild Wars!

I little complementary:

On every continent (Tyria - Prophecies, Cantha - Factions, Elona - Nightfall) you start in a territory which is designed for beginners. Character levelling is the fastest in Factions and the slowest in Prophecies. Character appereances are different on every continent, because Tyrian characters are like Europeans, Canthans are like Asians and Elonians are like Africans (but you can choose every skin colour everywhere).

GW2's date of publish is unknown, most of us assume that it will be somewhere around late 2009 or early 2010 in best case. So until then, you have plenty of time to enjoy GW1

Late 2009 or into 2010 would be beta, not release. There needs to be a test phase otherwise immediate fail.

Buying the trilogy is much cheaper than buying the campaigns separately when you want to add on later. The learning curve is easier with proph but the downside is that you don't have any heros. Eye of the North provides you with some really nice skills especially for PvE which makes it much easier to play the other campaigns.

If you're not sure if you're going to like GW, then buy 2 copies of Proph, that way if you don't like it you didn't waste much money. If you're set on playing though, in the long run the trilogy will be cheaper. Proph keeps you going for a long time (assuming you're not one of those people who gets other people to play half the game for them and skip all the optional content like side quests), so you'll have heaps of extra cash by the time you get through it to make up for the price difference.

I wouldn't recommend buying EotN until you've finished Proph, Factions, and NF. EotN is basically an extention of the harder, end of campaign areas. If you got halfway through Prophecies and went straight into EotN, you'd get smashed. Leave it until later.

games are about ??10 each now anyways (play / amazon)

proph - as long as you are not one of those sad little people who buys a game and cant be assed to play it and gets somebody to run half of it for you, although as you said in your original post you are playing with your bro, I don't think this is overly applicable to you!
proph is the longest game so it will keep you busy for a while, especially if you do all the sidequests and get more involved with the storyline and some of the lore between the Charr and Ascalon and the such

ALSO - YOU GET PRE-SEARING < probably my favourite area of any game, which is the perfect learning environment for any newb

and I would just like to destinguish quickly:
newb: beginner
noob: total retard who thinks he knows better than everyone else

don't think your a noob from the way you've been asking (nicely) for advice on how start the game off

Just a note to add that you can play a free trial of Guild Wars before you buy: http://www.guildwars.com/freetrial/

You'll need to download the client (its about 3-4 gig in size) and then grab a key which will give you 10 days or 14 hours of game time (which ever comes sooner). That should give you and your brother a feel of the game. Note that trial accounts can't do some things (such as trade), which is just a measure to stop it being worthwhile to use trial keys or botting accounts. If you have two pcs, you only need to download the client once - download it fully onto one pc, then start the download on the second one, exit the game, and copy the contents of the install folder on the first pc onto the second one. That way you can save your bandwidth a bit.

Hope this helps. I recommend getting the trilogy if you like the game, its cheaper overall.

EotN is an expansion which requires that you already have a chapter to expand on.
